"Changing the way the world thinks about disabilities, one dog at a time" ®

CST is made possible by the many people who volunteer their time, energy, money and love for the purpose of enhancing the lives of those affected by disabilities.

Canine Support Teams (CST) is a California based non-profit organization that provides specially trained dogs to people with disabilities other than blindness. Service dogs are placed with people who use wheelchairs, walkers, crutches or canes. They are taught to assist their partners by pulling manual wheelchairs, turning lights on and off, pushing elevator buttons, retrieving dropped or hard to reach items, making purchases or banking transactions, opening and closing doors and drawers, barking to get help and providing stability for walking. In addition, these dogs help to serve as an ice-breaker in public situations and provide constant companionship for their partners. Assisted Service work for individuals who can manage their dogs with help from another person, caregiver or attendant. Assisted Service have all the skills associated with Service Dogs.

Social dogs are placed with individuals, in nursing homes or in group care facilities. Interaction with dogs have been proven to have a strong, positive psychological impact. All dogs accepted into the training program must pass rigorous health and temperament tests. These dogs are either part of the CST breeding program or are donated by private breeders. Canine Support Teams is a volunteer organization. Almost all skill, labor and help of every kind is provided by people who volunteer their time and energy.

Cpl. Sean A. Stokes Legacy Project

Rita Stokes created this “Forget You Not” legacy for her son, Cpl. Sean A. Stokes, USMC, killed in action on July 30, 2007.

Under the umbrella of her organization is a gathering of resources and volunteers for WMDs (Working Military Dogs) and also volunteers needed to foster dogs of service men and women when they are deployed.

Our Forgotten Four Legged Heroes
”As an animal lover, the natural beauty, abilities and instincts of all animals never ceases to amaze me. As a life long dog owner and lover, the combination of beauty, amazing intuition and intelligence in conjunction with genuine devotion exceeds all other domesticated animals. I might get some argument with that statement, but they are not called 'Man's Best Friend' for nothing. Our MWD (Military Working Dogs) are truly unsung heroes. The German Shepherd, Dutch Shepherd, Belgian Malinios and Sheepdog, Labrador Retrievers work at their handlers' side for incredibly long hours in the most extreme conditions with unflinching dedication, loyalty and courage. MWD save countless military and civilian lives each and every day. I gather (any way I can) a variety of products including treats, toys, first aid and health products for the dogs and for the handlers. These 'Doggie Bags' are either sent directly to the Handlers or base Kennel Masters in Iraq or delivered to the Kennel Master at Quantico for distribution overseas. Please contact me directly if you would like more information regarding MWD or if you are able to contribute supplies or funds for this 'pet' project. Thank you.”

Fluffy Butts Rescue Resort
Welcome to one of our favorite rescues! Fluffy Butts does serious work for animals in need with a good dose of humor! Please check them out and support them.

The dogs rescued by Fluffy Butts have no families or homes to call their own and are waiting to adopt just the right family. They have come from puppy mills, reputable breeders, and people who can no longer care for them. They rescue Yorkshire Terriers, Pomeranians, Maltese, Schipperkes, Dachshunds, Min Pins, Chihuahuas, Poodles, Fox Terriers, Cockers, Bichons, mixed breeds ("designer dogs"), and a lot of other "kids." You name it, they’ve rescued it. They’ve even rescued German Shepherds, Beagles, hound dogs, a Great Dane, and a Lab!

Pomeranian Rescue Group
Located in the San Francisco Bay Area is a 501c3 non-profit organization, founded by Jan Yale, who has been rescuing Pomeranians since 1994. With a focus to save the lives of Pomeranians, rescuing them from shelters, accepting surrenders or when a family is unable to keep their beloved pet, volunteers are ready to foster and provide loving care until adoption.

Pomeranians are given medical care, dental care, vaccinations, and all health concerns addressed before being fostered until adopted. This is usually very expensive; the group receives no funding and your tax deductible donation is very much appreciated. The process for adoption is described on the website and an application can be downloaded.

“Available for Adoption” is the tab on the website to view beautiful little guys and gals who need a forever home.

Kona’s Chips owner and staff have Pomeranians, and are proud to link to the Pomeranian Rescue Group site.
